A Talian is a sentient member of Tal civilisation. The term "Eltus race" is also used occasionally, though it is now deemed archaic and/or deprecated during the civilisation's introduction to the galactic scope.

History[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about the history of Talian civilisation, though since their establishment they have seperated into states based on species.

For a long portion of the Talian industrial age, northern sergals of Tatola have aggressively conquered lands, until the Treaty of Tatola.

Species[edit | edit source]

A variety of species makes up the Talian race.

Agudner[edit | edit source]

Agudner are a species consisting of thinly furred individuals with typically light builds, likely from their natural habitats closer to Tal's equator. They have horns on their head, ranging in count of between one two six, and have hooves on their feet. Omnivorous, they typically do not engage in much social or political conflict within society.

Nevreans[edit | edit source]

Nevreans are a species with feathers covering their skin, and whose males are noticebly very colourful in appearance, and tend to stand shorter than most other Talians. They are comparable to avians on Earth, though scientists believe they resemble the genetic traits of the long-gone dinosaurs of Earth.

They have feathered arms that resemble devolved wings, and a thin tail tipped with large ornamental feathers. Nevreans have a digestive system built primarily for a carniverous diet, although advances in civilisation, healthcare technology and trade have allowed Nevreans to shift towards more omnivorous diet. Their feathers are very colourful, moreso for the male sex population than the female, likely an evolutionary artifact for the attraction of mates.

Throughout Tal's past, they have demonstrated greater technological prowess than other species, only outmatched by the talyxians.

Sergals[edit | edit source]

Sergals are a tall, furred species typically standing between 180cm and 220cm in height. Sergals have two subsets of species, the northern kind originating from Tatola on Tal, and the southern kind, originating from the Sailzane desert. They are notably the dominant species of the Talian civilisation.

Sergals in general have wedge-shaped heads and triangular ears pointing backwards and out to the side, and have long tails with bushy ends. Unusual for most other species on either Tal or Earth, there is little physiological difference between the males and females of the species.

Northern Sergals[edit | edit source]

They are decisively the most populous of any of the other Talians, likely owing to the northern variety's imperialistic past. They have broad, wedge-shaped heads, and are covered in fluffy thick body fur due to their northerly origin. Their colour reflects their environment, often pigmented muted greys, blues, blacks or white.

Southern Sergals[edit | edit source]

In contrast to the northern variety of sergals, southern sergals have a much more slender build, thinner fur, longer ears, and narrower head and snout, owing to their hotter natural habitat. They are common throughout Talian worlds, but are not as populous as the northern variety. Their temperate and desert habitats have given them terrestrial colours such as tan or brown.

Talyxians[edit | edit source]

Talyxians are an unusual race that do not appear to have originated from Tal itself. They have a semi-mechanical appearance and are known to have kick-started life on the planet. The species is split into two main castes: Rooters, which are bipedal and rule over the stalkers, who are quadrupedal. Their original homeworld or system is unknown. They are very rarely seen in the urbanised areas of the planet, let alone outside of the Vilous system.
